South of Dumaguete City is Apo Island which features walls and coral mounds. Pelagic fish frequent the area inclusing the black-tip and whitetip sharks. Care must be taken particularly during full moon as currents are strong and unpredictable. To reach Apo Island, one can take a 35 minute ride by outrigger from Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental.
Can reach thes highlight of the Visayas in about half an hour by boat. The marine sanctuary with the famous Clownfish-City and the jack-school. How to Get to Apo Island
There are daily flights from Manila to Dumaguete. The flight from Manila takes about an hour, another 10 minutes by taxi, or tricycle to downtown. Dumaguete is readily accessible by sea. High-speed ferries from Cebu City run three times daily for 2.5 hours. Fast ferries run from Dumaguete to Siquijor three times daily for 45 minutes. You can also go between Tagbilaran, Siquijor and Dumaguete direct by fast ferry boat.
